Affordable Housing for Teen Families

Terra’s Housing support services help teen parents find safe and affordable housing for their families in Edmonton and area.

Housing Support Services for Teen Parents

For young parents who are participating in programs and services offered by Terra, specialized housing support services can be accessed.   Young parents face many challenges in securing safe and affordable housing.  Many have not lived independently, lack references, are under age, and face discrimination from landlords.  Housing Support Services provides 1-1 help to young parents in need of securing housing.   Activities include assistance in searching for housing, screening potential accommodations and completing required paper work, advocating with property management companies/funding sources/connecting to utilities, conducting community referrals.  Housing Support Services provides hands on coaching for young parents who need to learn how to access safe and affordable housing and to maneuver through the systems that relate to housing.

Alcohol is banned from the building.

Funding for this project was provided by Homeward Trust, City of Edmonton, and Mikhael Management Corporation.  Start up donations were received from Ideal Decor, Rotary Downtown & Rotary Northeast.   Hope Terrace is the recipient of many expressions of support from the community.  Donations of kitchen ware, linens and furniture in good condition are always welcome.  Donations of beds are not accepted.
