Terra is a dynamic community based organization that responds to the issues and challenges that young people face related to pregnancy and parenting.

Terra is seeking a Coordinator Volunteer Services to implement and develop the volunteer program through the promotion of volunteer opportunities available in the agency.  The Coordinator Volunteer Services is responsible for the recruitment, screening, selection, orientation, supervision and recognition of agency volunteers.

This is a part time position of 15 – 20 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a Volunteer Program Plan that aligns with the volunteer program logic model
  • Work with agency staff to determine volunteer needs.
  • Define the volunteer opportunities and write appropriate job descriptions for volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide managers with appropriate training and support for volunteers.
  • Review and update the volunteer manual.
  • Recruit, place, orientate, supervise, support, evaluate and recognize volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain the volunteer roster /  data base to support the volunteer reporting, evaluation, and planning needs of the agency.
  • Provide support and supervision to agency volunteers
  • Represent the agency within the community to build relationships that further the aims of the volunteer program and raises awareness of the work of the agency.
  • Conducts annual evaluation to determine the reliability of screening techniques, programs/staff satisfaction and quality client-volunteer relationships

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  •  A degree or equivalent post secondary education and relevant experience
  •   Experience managing volunteer efforts and / or personal involvement in a volunteer capacity
  • An exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point)
  • Experience working in a not for profit environment, preferably with experience supporting volunteer efforts
  • The ability to develop and deliver effective and compelling presentations to a wide range of internal and community audiences
  • Ability to work effectively as a team as well as independently
  • Experience networking with a range of partners and stakeholders
  • Knowledge or awareness of the challenges faced by pregnant or parenting teens is an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
