Community Engagement Facilitator
Terra is a dynamic community based organization that responds to the issues and challenges that young people face related to pregnancy and parenting.
Terra is seeking a Community Engagement Facilitator to promote opportunities for volunteer community engagement within Terra and to manage the in-kind donations program for the agency. This role serves as the key link to organizations/businesses and community groups expressing an interest to provide in-kind goods/services and donations to Terra. This is a part time position of 15 – 20 hours/week.
Responsibilities
- Identifies targeted or specific in-kind support for the agency’ s clients
- Manages relationships with community partners, groups or agencies involved in support activities
- Identifies opportunities to connect with corporate organizations that have a focus or program of social responsibility or community support
- Responds to inquiries regarding potential in-kind donations
- Coordinates the pick-up of donations or other community donation contributions with close coordination and communication with the Volunteer Services Facilitator
- Monitors, tracks and stores in-kind donations from individuals and groups and adheres to program reporting requirements for donations
- Coordinates the distribution of in-kind donations to the clients served through Terra’s programs and services
- Ensures donors are appropriately recognized for in-kind contributions and participation efforts
- Makes presentations to church groups, businesses, educational institutions and other community groups to promote and obtain support for in-kind contributions and engagement opportunities
- Researches and presents ideas for community involvement or engagement
- Maintains case notes and other documentation on all contact and interaction with in-kind donors and other related groups
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A diploma or equivalent post secondary education
- Knowledge of and / or experience with churches, schools and other organizations supporting human services within the Edmonton community
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point)
- Experience working in a not for profit environment
- The ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to a wide range of community audiences
- Ability to work effectively as a team as well as independently
- Experience networking with a range of partners and community groups
- Knowledge or awareness of the challenges faced by pregnant or parenting teens is an asset
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Salary
$20/hour for 15 – 20 hours/week
