Child Development

Terra is committed to offering opportunities and experiences that promote healthy child development.

Child and Family Support Centre - CFSC
(Located at Braemar School)

The Child and Family Support Centre provides on-site quality childcare to infants and toddlers between the ages of three weeks to three years for moms attending Braemar School.

The CFSC has received accreditation through Alberta Children's Services. All permanent full-time Early Childhood Educators have a two year diploma in early childhood development.
 
Services include:
- High quality, individualized care and early learning for all children enrolled in the program.
- On-site cook providing nutritious meals and snacks.
- Hands on parenting information and support.

Monthly fees:
- Infants (0-18 months) $947
- Toddler (19 - 36 months) $868
Assistance is provided to access and maintain childcare subsidy through Alberta Children's Services (based on family income).

Parenting Education

Parenting Education is designed to provide pregnant and parenting youth with additional support and information individually and in a group setting. Information includes: parenting, parent/child interaction, shaken baby, baby care, child development, guiding children's behaviour, health and safety instruction, play and learning experiences, childcare Information and how to select a quality childcare.

Group parenting programs are offered throughout the year in the evening at Terra and during the day through the Child and Family Support Centre & Educational Support Services at Braemar School. Groups include: Nobody's Perfect parenting program (enhanced), Rhymes that Bind (Child & Family Support Centre location only), baby care and play workshops.

Let's Play

Young moms, dads and their children have the opportunity to play together in a fun, stimulating environment. The program is facilitated by Early Childhood Educators (level 3) and the goal of the program is to foster a child's total development while supporting family interactions. The program runs Fridays and on one Saturday/month families go on outings in the community.
